- When my son was small he was badly bitten in the face by a dog tied
up outside a store. It wasn't as if we had no experience with dogs -
we owned a shepherd cross at the time but I didn't understand how my
son's swooping down on the small dog would make an otherwise friendly
dog stressed out and afraid. If I knew then what I know now
it could have prevented, education could have made me aware of the dogs
posture and more cautious in general about how my children approach
dogs they do not know. An eduation program for children and adults,
either in the schools or community centres would provide a means to save
grief for both parents and dog owners alike.

"A dog teaches a boy fidelity, perseverance, and to turn around three times before lying down."

Robert Benchley (1889–1945)
